Zakynthos

Zakynthos is a tourist destination, with an  served by charter flights from northern Europe. The island’s nickname is “the Flower of the Levant”, bestowed upon it by the venetian who were in possession of Zakynthos from 1484–1797.

Popular beaches like Agios Nikolaos, Alykanas and Tsilivi offer swimming and water sports.Accessed by boat, Navagio beach is the site of a famed 1980 shipwreck resting in a sandy cove framed by cliffs.

Alykanas is now the busiest destination on the island for British holidaymakers, surpassing Tsivili and Kalamaraki, which are more popular with families.
